Vanity RSS 101: Go Find Yourself

I was idly tripping through Technorati tonight and (rather belatedly) noticed that Mike Sansone was kind enough to put me on his Blue Ribbon BlogRoll. Two months belatedly. Ahem.

So, first: Thanks Mike!

Second: I guess if I subscribed to a vanity feed of other blogs where my named popped up, I might have spotted the mention 2 months ago. Ahem.

I thought I would conduct an informal poll as to how you folks do a “vanity search” for your name in the blogosphere. Not manual google queries, mind you… the results need to be in an RSS or Atom feed, naturally.

I know of a few easy ones without too much research:

If you’re willing to do a little more setup, great results can be had through MySyndicaat as well. This one is especially handy for deleting duplicaat ;) entries in a combined feed, etc. Very nice.

So, how do you find yourself?

Since I use NewsGator online, I’ve set up keyword serach for my name and then subscribe the the RSS feed, calling it “mentions.” Typically I find that it ends uppulling my own comments (such as this one), although I do use cocomment to keep track of comment threads I am interested in.

Your welcome, Mark:-) And thanks for the link.

I use three of those you mention (Google, Technorati, BlogPulse) on my link, my name, and a few variations of spellings of my name. I might try the caat - thanks for the tip.

    Keep up the great work
