Community Service Feeds
As we ponder personal and community tragedies playing out across the U.S. this week, it seems appropriate to hi-lite RSS/Atom feeds that are geared toward community service. These are great examples of how private and government organizations can get valuable information to the public without the overhead of email servers and subscription infrastructures.
- National Amber Alerts (RSS 2.0)
- Missing Adults/Children News (RSS 2.0)
- The Corporation for National and Community Service (RSS 2.0)
- NOAA’s National Weather Service Alerts (Link to directory of feeds.)
- Small Business Administration, Office of Advocacy (RSS 2.0)
- Privacy Digest (RSS 2.0)
- U.S. Patent Applications (Link to directory of feeds.)
- U.S. State Department News (RSS 2.0)
- Government of Canada News (RSS 2.0)
Of course, most of these feeds are only useful in the United States. If you know of other local or international feeds which are noteworthy, please add that information to the comments below.
Furthermore, if you have community service information that you would like to make public via RSS or Atom, and don’t know where to begin, drop me a line and I’ll be happy to help you get started.
