There has been recent buzz a-plenty about Google’s patent application for targeted ads (AdWords) inside RSS feeds. The application was filed 2 years ago, so it isn’t exactly news. But since marketing in RSS is news, somebody finally noticed the patent and mayhem ensued.
When I first read about it, I figured things would shake themselves out without Google owning the idea of ads in RSS. (Marketeers would be jumping out of windows if that happened. Oh, the humanity.) Sure enough, it appears the out-shaking has arrived, right on cue.
Sounds like a terminal case of “prior art.”
Cue the lawyers.
