Google Homepage adds Feed Reader
Google has added new content capabilities to its portal-ish Homepage, including support for RSS/RDF/Atom feeds.
You can now create a custom syndicated feed section for your personalized home page with the “Create a Section” feature. Simply type in the feed’s URL, press the Go button, and you’ll have a new section with the feed item titles displayed.
Currently the only customization for a given feed section is the number of items (1-5). Ideally they’ll add the ability to edit the refresh rate and support full item text in the near future.
It would appear the feed parsing is happening at the server level, and the HTML view is done on the client via DOM script rendering. It would also appear that they are caching contents of the feed on their servers rather than polling it every time. If anyone has more information on this, please drop me a line.

Yeah, it was inevitable since Yahoo! has already implemented this feature in its MyYahoo! portal.
