War + Marketing = iPod?
Since every boy I’ve ever met, American or otherwise, is pre-disposed to pretend a stick is a gun, video games that involve shooting people aren’t all that suprising. (And, frankly, I admit I find some of them to be pretty fun.)
Still, the “enjoy pretending to end a human life” factor of our culture is jarring from time to time. Consider this still from a Flash-animated ad I saw today:

I’m not sure if it is the smouldering tank or the nearly-Iraqi uniform (replete with gas mask to hide any humanity) that troubles me about this ad.
Maybe its the idea that sniping a faceless soldier is a reasonable thing to do if you really need a way to play your MP3 tunes.

Fortunately, I don’t need to play it. My loving wife gave me the iPod shuffle as a Valentine’s Day gift and I love it. Of course I wish for the Rolls Royce iPod Photo but I really don’t need it. The iPod shuffle is amazing in its simplicity and it gets me too and from work when I prefer not to listen to the radio.
